With 660 very satisfied participants, a sold out exhibition space (36 companies), 61 topics on the agenda and in parallel running meetings as well as live-demonstrations the 19th ProSTEP iViP Symposium yesterday ended successfully.

The figures are indeed impressive. The Symposium has grown by 15% (compared with 2015) to one of world’s largest neutral ALM-PLM conferences and the offered possibilities for networking are unique. Where else can one find friends and competitors, representatives from several industrial branches (e.g. automotive, aerospace, ship-building), IT and research, exchanging ideas and experiences. And this message gets more and more around: 35% of the participants were first-time-attendies.

For realizing Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) successful, fast and global, IT systems have to be interoperable. For this, the technological challenge is to establish interoperability, the political one is to establish trust into the simple application of the systems. An interoperability certification can facilitate this.
